Knoxville: Migrants Welcome Here

In solidarity with President Barack Obama, Comrade Mayor Madeline Rogero and the City Council stand with migrants and declare sanctuary status for Knoxville.

Comrade Mayor Madeline Rogero
(KNOXVILLE) Immigration rights activists are hailing the city of Knoxville for formally throwing its support to an effort to spare undocumented adult workers from deportation. The city is among more than 100 cities that submitted this week what are called "amicus curiae" or friend of the court briefs to the U.S. Supreme Court. The move pits Knoxville directly against the state of Tennessee, which is among more than two dozen states suing the Obama administration.
